What are the different sale formats available for selling my watch?
There are two different available selling formats for selling your watch. The first option is a secondary auction format. With this format, the starting price is your reserve price. It is the least amount you will accept for your watch. The second option is the buy now sales format. With this option, you set the buy now price for your watch. With either option and to keep the buyer engaged, a make an offer feature is available.
How does a Make an Offer work?
The Make an Offer feature is available for both the Auction and Buy Now Sales format. The Make an Offer feature is designed to engage the buyer, but at the same time, we understand the annoyance of receiving “low-ball” offers.
Therefore, our Make an Offer feature has minimum built-in offer thresholds. In the Auction Sales format and if there is a current price (bid); there is a 5% minimum offer threshold over the current price (bid). Or, if there is no bid, the minimum offer threshold is 85% of the Starting price. For example, if the Starting price is $2,000, the minimum offer threshold is $1,701.
Second, in a Buy Now Sales format, the minimum offer threshold is 85% of the Buy Now price. For example, if the Buy Now price is $5,000, the minimum offer threshold is $4,250.
The system will automatically reject any offer that does not meet the minimum offer threshold dollar amount.
What is the cost to list and sell my watch?
For the watch dealer, the cost is 2% or a maximum or $250 of the final sale amount. However, for the private individual, there is no listing or selling fee and you can list and sell as many watches as you want! It is FREE!
How is selling my watch on Watch2Wear different from selling my watch on a watch forum?
If you are a private individual, selling a watch on Watch2Wear's online marketplace is the same as selling a watch on a watch forum. There is no difference and it is absolutely FREE!
Why would my watch fail the verification process?
It is extremely important not to misrepresent your watch in anyway. If you fail to disclose information about the watch’s authenticity and or both the physical and mechanical condition, it will fail the verification process.
What happens when I sell a watch and the buyer chooses to purchase the watch with verification?
If the buyer chooses to purchase the watch with verification, Watch2Wear will email you a prepaid and pre-insured shipping label. Once the verification process is completed, and if the watch passes the verification process, Watch2Wear will ship the watch to the buyer and send you the money on behalf of the buyer. The sale is now final. Conversely, if the watch fails the verification process, and after you pay the $50 service and sales transaction fee and return shipping cost, Watch2Wear will ship the watch back to you. Watch2Wear will reimburse the buyer 100% of the final sales amount, less the verification fee.
What happens when I sell a watch with verification?
Once the watch is purchased, and on your behalf, we will invoice the buyer. After we have received the buyer's payment, we will email you a prepaid and pre-insured shipping label. You will then have up to 72 hours to ship us the watch.
After we have received the watch, we will perform our very thorough and comprehensive verification process. If the watch passes our verification process, you will receive the watch’s sale price, less the verification fee. However, if the watch either completely fails our verification process or if there are any discrepancies and the buyer decides to cancel the sale, we will ship you back the watch without incurring any penalty and shipping fees. However, you are still responsible for the verification fee.
Is there a penalty if I sell a watch (and the buyer purchases the watch verification) and subsequently, it fails the verification process?
Yes, there is a $50 service and sales transaction fee and the cost of the return shipping. To avoid paying any penalties, please fully disclose and do not misrepresent, in anyway, the watch’s authenticity and both the physical and mechanical condition. Honesty is the best policy!
Is there a penalty if I sell a watch with verification and subsequently, it fails the verification process?
No, there are not penalties or fees. You are only responsible for the watch’s verification fee. Watch2Wear pays for all shipping costs.
What happens when I sell a watch and the buyer chooses to purchase the watch AS IS; without verification?
If the buyer chooses to purchase the watch without verification, you will ship the watch directly to the buyer and the sale is considered final.
What is the “Bump” listing option?
The “Bump” option will randomly place your watch listing ad to the top of a search results page. The cost to “Bump” your listing is $10 a month.
How does the “Bump” listing option work?
The “Bump” listing is based on the buyer’s search parameters. For example, if a user searches for a Dive watch with a case size of 36mm to 39mm and your watch listing is a Dive watch with a 38mm case, your watch listing will be displayed at the top of the page. The “Bump” placement listing could be also as generic as brand and or model. With this instance, if a user searches for an Omega, and your watch listing is an Omega Seamaster or Speedmaster, your watch listing will be displayed at the top of the page.
What is the “Featured” listing option?
The “Featured” listing option will randomly place your watch listing on Watch2Wear’s Home Page. This option will ensure maximum exposure. The cost is a onetime fee of $25 until the watch sells.
